A disc with a hollow centre and "beams" hovers over Harare airport, and Zimbabwe goes on high alert (2 July 2008)

This is a CIA intelligence information report distributed on 3 July 2008 (a 2009 Trident printout). Its source, who is redacted, reported an unidentified object hovering at high altitude over Harare International Airport on the afternoon of 2 July 2008. It was observed possibly by radar as well as optically. Observers described a disc with a hollow centre and rotating lights underneath, and at one point "beams" appeared to come from it. The lights then changed colour and the object rose quickly out of sight. People aware of the incident were divided over whether it was a foreign government's advanced reconnaissance device or an extraterrestrial craft. Whatever its origin, the incident contributed to a decision to put a Zimbabwean entity, whose name is redacted, on high alert. The case/ariel record in this database cites this file only as a related document; the Ariel School sighting is a different event, in 1994. *Method note: war.gov blocks this server. The file was read from the original PDF served by the ufotransparency.com mirror. The file is a scanned printout with a poor OCR layer and heavy redaction; quotations were corrected against the page images.*
