Locals around Sedona have said for decades that a military facility sits under Secret Mountain, the mesa northwest of town. Two local researchers, Jeremiah Horstman and Alexandra Caldwell, describe twelve years of fenced 'empty' canyons, armed men in Forest Service-style uniforms, shots fired at them in Boynton Canyon after a metallic boom like a bunker door, and nightly helicopter formations that follow balls of light. They say a drone radar survey by Brandon Fugal's team found a 50 ft tunnel heading toward the mountain, though the scan has not been released. Steven Greer's group, separately, met a man with a drawn pistol at the back of the same mountain in 2026.
