During STS-48 in September 1991, a Space Shuttle camera filmed points of light drifting above Earth. After a flash, one makes a sharp turn and races away. In 1996, cameras on STS-75 filmed dozens of glowing disc-like objects swarming near a broken tether. Researchers like Martyn Stubbs, who recorded NASA's live feeds, built archives of this footage.

How plausible · Moderate
Official NASA footage of lights in orbit; that they are craft rests on analysts.

- ●●Physical traces or official reaction Video.
Plausibility weighs how well an account fits where secrecy hides the documents by design, so missing records never count against it. Strength measures what is documented. Assessed 2026-10-23.
On the record
- The original NASA video from both missions is public.
