NASA Artemis II Preliminary Lunar Science Report (7 October 2026)

Confirms five faint flashes seen with the unaided eye during the 6 April eclipse from about 46,000 miles; rules out cosmic rays and spacecraft reflections; an Orion exterior camera recorded about two minutes in that period and caught no flash. Still investigating whether Hansen's halo was corona, zodiacal light or both.
