National Security Act of 1947
Signed by President Truman on 26 July 1947, the Act created the National Security Council, the Central Intelligence Agency and an independent Air Force. UAP Gerb treats it as the legal frame the legacy program hangs on: the NSC's covert-action chain and the new Air Force both come from it.
