The Silent War: John Pina Craven on Project Sand Dollar (2001)

Sourced, unconfirmed · 2001

John Pina Craven, chief scientist of the Navy's Polaris Special Projects Office, wrote in his 2001 memoir The Silent War that in 1965 he was briefed on Project Sand Dollar, a hidden program to recover sensitive objects from the ocean floor, and shown an inventory and world map of them. The deep-submergence vehicles he oversaw are documented. UAP Gerb reads Sand Dollar as the Navy's first program for retrieving unidentified objects from the sea.
