Global Air Force UFO Encounters You've Probably Never Heard of

Episode thumbnail: Global Air Force UFO Encounters You've Probably Never Heard of. · UAP Gerb (YouTube), reproduced for identification

Gerb runs through four military pilot encounters that he thinks deserve more attention: George Gorman's 1948 dogfight over Fargo, the 1969 Pori sighting in Finland, the 1980 La Joya interception in Peru, and the 2004 Campeche FLIR case. All four are already in the db. He adds a few details the records lack, such as the tower operator's binocular sighting at Fargo and Santa María's description from 100 m, and he sides with the pilots against the flare explanation for Campeche.

On the record

  • Gorman's signed certificate of 23 October 1948 is in the Project Sign file.
  • The Mexican Air Force released the Campeche FLIR footage itself.

Open questions

  • Natural cause proposed, not demonstrated: a lighted balloon for Fargo and oil-platform flares for Campeche.
  • Where does Gerb's 3,218 m/s figure for Pori come from?

Leads to follow

  • Read the Fargo tower interrogation reports for L.D. Jensen's statement.
  • Find the Geiger survey in the Sign file.

Witness testimony (7)

2nd Lt. George Gorman chased a small blinking ball of light over Fargo for about 20 minutes on 1 October 1948; it outturned and outclimbed his P-51.Sworn certificate of 23 Oct 1948, read in the video.firsthandGeorge F. GormanThe Gorman "dogfight" over Fargo
The Hector Airport tower operator, L.D. Jensen, watched the object pass overhead through binoculars.Gerb's retelling of the Sign file; the interrogation reports are not read in the db.secondhandL.D. Jensen → Project Sign interrogation → UAP Gerb → told itThe Gorman "dogfight" over Fargo
Project Sign found Gorman's P-51 measurably more radioactive than other fighters and first considered that it had flown near an 'atomic powered object'.Ruppelt's account of the file; the radiation was later put down to less shielding at altitude, a cause proposed, not demonstrated.secondhandProject Sign file → Edward Ruppelt → UAP Gerb → told itThe Gorman "dogfight" over FargoTwining memo and Project Sign
Pori, 12 Apr 1969, is the only UFO observation the Finnish Air Force acknowledges; seven pale-yellow round objects accelerated away from a Fouga Magister against a 180 km/h headwind.Gerb's names are garbled in the captions; the db record gives Tukeva and Jouko Kuronen.firsthandTarmo Tukeva (trainee pilot)Pori: seven yellow 'balloons' outrun a jet
Lt. Óscar Santa María Huertas fired a burst of 64 rounds of 30 mm at the object over La Joya with no effect.Other counts: about 60 (Epoch Times) and more than 80 (OIFAA).firsthandÓscar Santa María Huertas (as quoted by UAP Gerb)Peru's OIFAA and the La Joya interception

Radar at Vaasa, 200 km away, picked up the seven objects soon after, implying about 3,218 m/s.Gerb's figure; the db source (Yle 2009) says only 'seen or picked up near Vaasa'. No radar log released.secondhandunstated source → UAP Gerb → told itPori: seven yellow 'balloons' outrun a jet
