Gene Cernan

Flew Apollo 10 (the 'moon pigeon' mission) and commanded Apollo 17. On Apollo 17 he sketched the lunar horizon glow and, on day 2, reported a distant rotating 'flasher': 'there is something out there... It's something physical in the distance.'
