NRO Program B

  • On the record: the CIA's SIGINT satellite program inside the NRO, with its ground station at Pine Gap.
  • The claims: Inman named its director, Evan Hineman, as the man to ask about crash retrievals.
  • Gerb's model (hypothesis): Hineman may have worked legacy programs out of Pine Gap.

The CIA Directorate of Science and Technology's satellite arm inside the NRO, which built and ran signals-intelligence satellites with a ground station at Pine Gap, Australia. Its director from 1982 to 1989 was R. Evan Hineman, the man Admiral Inman named in 1989 as the one to ask about recovered craft; the Perry panel advised it and TRW's Special Projects built its satellites. UAP Gerb thinks Hineman may have worked on legacy programs out of Pine Gap.
