Chaired by Rep. André Carson, this was the first open congressional hearing on UFOs since 1966. Under Secretary Ronald Moultrie and Deputy Director of Naval Intelligence Scott Bray testified. They said reports had grown to about 400 and showed a video of a reflective sphere zipping past a fighter cockpit. Weeks later Congress set up AARO, the Pentagon's permanent UAP office, and NASA launched its own study.
