In their own words

“look at that thing, dude!”
Unnamed F/A-18 aircrew, GIMBAL video audio, 2015 · source

After a radar upgrade, Navy F/A-18 squadrons off Virginia and Florida began seeing unknown objects almost daily. Pilots described one as a 'cube inside a sphere' that nearly collided with two jets. Two videos from this period became famous: GIMBAL, with a pilot exclaiming 'look at that thing, dude!' as the object rotates against the wind, and GOFAST, with an object skimming the ocean at speed. Lt. Ryan Graves later testified about the sightings.
